DeLane Ronald Meier, 77, Bismarck, died September 10, 2015, at Sanford Health. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bismarck with Kalon Gesellchen officiating. Burial will be at Bowesmont Cemetery on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. DeLane was born in Sheridan County on January 17, 1938, to Herman and Anna (Hahn) Meier. He attended schools in Vancouver, WA, Denhoff, ND, and rural Tuttle, ND, and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1957. After graduation, DeLane worked for the ND State Highway Department throughout the state and continued to work for the ND Department of Transportation in Bismarck for a total of 52 years. He retired in 2010. DeLane was a licensed professional engineer and a licensed land surveyor, as well as having an extra class amateur radio license. On May 27, 1959, DeLane married Myra Juhl of Bowesmont, ND. They had two sons, DeWitt and Lee and over 100 foster children over the course of 30 years. Myra passed away in 2008. DeLane married Suzanne Huelsman on September 9, 2014, in Bismarck. DeLane is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his sons, DeWitt (Jayne) of Minneapolis, MN, and Lee (Sally) of Bismarck; his grandchildren, Jayden and Joey of Minneapolis, and Andrew of Bismarck; his brothers, Roger of Pennsylvania, Dennis (Lonna) of Bismarck, Arlin (Thelma) of Bismarck and Benson, AZ, and Randy (Linda) of Bismarck; his sisters, Carol (Dan) Baillie of Bismarck, and Sheree Wolf of Kelley, IA; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Meier of Fargo; his brother-in-law, Kent (Sandy) Juhl of Smithton, MO; his aunt, Esther Lay of Seattle, WA; his uncles, Robert Weisz of Hurdsfield and Don (Sue) Hahn of Castle Rock, CO; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many foster children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra; his parents, Herman and Anna Meier; his in-laws, Melvin and Jean Juhl; his brother-in-law, Ervin and Brian Juhl; and his brother, Gerald Meier.
