Beverly M. Peterson, age 84 of Bismarck, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2015, at the Baptist Health Care Center. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 11, 2015, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1004 East Highland Acres Rd, Bismarck, with Rev. Donna Dohrmann officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, September 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.Beverly was born on March 5, 1931 in Fargo, ND to Fred and Leona (Dietrich) Henning. She was raised in Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School in 1948. From there she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she met her husband, Bob Peterson.Bev and Bob were married on September 9, 1950, in Fargo, ND. Their first home was in El Paso, TX, while Bob was in the U.S. Army. Returning to North Dakota, they made homes in Alamo and Harvey, before settling in Williston for 16 years. During those years, Bev was busy raising her four children.In 1973, Bev and Bob moved to Bismarck when Bob was elected to state office. After her children were grown, at the age of 50 years old, Bev returned to college and finished her nursing degree at Mary College. Bev's nursing career as RN included working at the Baptist Home, St. Alexius Hospital, and eventually the Amoco Refinery in Mandan.Bev retired from nursing in 1996. She was active in Lutheran Church of the Cross, P.E.O. (Chapter AF), and Fortnightly. She also devoted her time and talent to helping the God's Child Project in Guatemala. She enjoyed entertaining, decorating, reading, traveling, spending time at Pelican Lake, Minnesota, and at their farm south of Watford City. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything else.Bev is survived by her children, Bob (Kathy), Bismarck, Gary (Cindy), Tucson, AZ., Sonya (Ron) Czerepak, North St. Paul, MN, and Mark, Tampa, FL. Her grandchildren, Christopher, Annaliese, Brynn, Daniel and Madeline and one great-granddaughter, Quinn.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents and siblings, Loralee Hansen, Victor Henning, and Marie Miller. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Lutheran Church of the Cross in Bismarck.The family would also like to thank the caregivers at the Baptist Home for the love and care Bev received.A smile costs nothing, but gives so much. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. Bev's smile will be remembered by everyone she knew.
