Joan Marguerite Schiermeister

Joan Schiermeister, 76, Bismarck, died September 2, 2015, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Paul Schick officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at the ND Veterans Cemetery. Joan's wish was to be cremated. A beautiful lady inside and out, Joan Marguerite Lipp Schiermeister brightened the world with her love, laughter, and kindness. Joan was born on December 23, 1938, to John and Rose (Deis) Lipp in Tacoma, WA, and was raised in Tappen, Dawson, and Linton, ND. She married Ervin Schiermeister on October 5, 1957, in Patuxent River, MD. They lived in Linton and Mott, and then settled in Bismarck. Joan worked for the federal government for 31 years. Joan loved music and hummed all the time. She enjoyed old movies, manicures and pedicures to show off her double toe, the LA Lakers, playing pinochle, traveling, and blowing her daughter's inheritance at the casino every Wednesday. She cashed in her chips on September 2, 2015. Joan was a resident at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, battling cancer – with humor. Her family was waiting for her to return to her room from driving her scooter down the halls. Joan barrels in and says, "DUI coming – I just had some meds. Thank God you guys are here. I need someone to park this thing." Joan is survived by her husband, Ervin; daughters, Gail (Terry) Mees and Sandy (Donny) Gleich; grandchildren, Stacey (Jason) Johnson, Carrie Gleich, Megan (Matthew) Frohlich, John (Chelsea) Gleich, and Mike Mees; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Lakyn Johnson, Ethan Points and Dreyson Gleich, Camden and Hadlee Frohlich, and Jaxson and baby boy (in December) Gleich; brothers, Roger (Mary) and Tom (Marie), Dave, Dennis (Beth), Mike, and Don (Susan) Lipp; sisters, Jackie (Ray) Schmalz, Diane Lipp, and Cindy Schreiner; and "oodles" of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Preceding her in passing were her parents, John and Rose; stepmother, Irene (Jacobson) Lipp; along with numerous in-laws.
