Gladys M. Rausch, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 27, 2015. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Avenue, Bismarck, with Deacon Tony Ternes officiating.Family will greet visitors starting at 12:00 noon at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.Gladys was born on March 19, 1921, at the Elgin Hospital in Elgin, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter Laub and Ella (Bauer) Laub. The oldest of five siblings, Gladys grew up in Carson, North Dakota, and graduated from Carson High School in 1939. She met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Rausch, at a dance in Carson, where they danced every dance together throughout the evening. She worked at the Office of the North Dakota State Treasurer before she and Richard married on June 10, 1946 in Bismarck. Gladys and Richard's first child, Diane, was brought home on their first wedding anniversary. Their son James was born four years later.Gladys was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Church, the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Lodge, several local bridge clubs, the Badlands Trailriders, and several charitable organizations, and was a co-founder of the 40 Acres Club in Medora, ND. Whether her almost-otherworldly skills at bingo, her kindness, her love of family, her passion for life or her love of the Minnesota Twins, Gladys had no peer. She is survived by her grandson, Christopher Rausch; her brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Sally Laub; her sisters Mildred Boatright and Etta Feldner; several nephews and nieces; her daughter-in-law Linda Lang and her husband Guy McCommon; and her dear friend, Cooper the Golden Retriever, who provided her endless joy in her final years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rausch; her parents; her daughter, Diane Larsen; her son, James Rausch; her sister Ardy (Laub) Addington; and her sister-in-law Ruth Rausch.
