Edna Semler, 93, Bismarck, died August 25, 2015, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am Saturday, August 29, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating.Cremation has taken place.Edna Marie Semler was born in Hanks, ND, on February 20, 1922, to Napolean and Mae Morrison Du Paul. She moved to Williston and attended Central School, and graduated from Williston High School in 1940. She liked all sports, especially playing basketball on the girls' team. She told many stories, and played many games of basketball against her grandchildren. She worked at Pierre's Cafe. She was married to Lawrence Semler in October of 1947. She had four children, Linda, Jane, Joe, and Lauren. They moved to SpringBrook for a few years and then back to Williston, where she worked for Family Thrift Store. In 1968, Larry was transferred to Bismarck, where Edna worked for Red Owl and Conoco. She retired, and decided she didn't like it. She returned to work at the concession stand in the Bingo hall, where she also loved to spend a lot of her free time as well. Edna has been living at the Patterson the last 10 years, where she made many good friends. Her favorite things in life to do were to play bingo with anyone willing to play with her, head to the casino with her family, or spend time with her MANY MANY children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Linda (Joel) Hixson-Maixner, Bismarck, Joe (Jan) Semler, Newburg, Oregon, Lauren (Joan) Semler, Portland, Oregon. She was loved and cherished by her grandchildren, Jeff Volk, Melissa Volk, Lisa (Russ) Hixson Moltzen, Shari Semler-Teachworth, Bob Hixson, Laura (Neal) Scott, Jenny (Darrell) Mathews, Kari Semler, and Landin (Amy) Carry Moccasin; great-grandchildren, Jerried, Ieashia, Shantel, Taya, Kasey, Amanda, Michael, McKenzie, Matthew, Kirby, Madison, Kaylee, Adam, Joseph, Arianna, Lincoln, and Ava, Levi and Dakota; great-great grandchildren, Anna, Xavier, Camille, Keshawn, Zaden, and Quinton; and special friends, Bev Jarrett, Jessica Hinsley, and Joann Ozbun. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Semler; her parents, Mae and Napolean; her sisters, Edith and Agnes; her brothers, Walt and Joe; and great-grandchildren, Samantha White Bull and Michael Volk.
