Barbara Mickelson

Barbara Mickelson, 87, Bismarck, died August 14, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, August 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.Barbara was born January 15, 1928, in the Garrison area in McLean County, ND, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Kleinsasser) Schmitcke. She was raised in Garrison and married Orville Bernard Mickelson on February 12, 1948, at Washburn, ND. They moved to Bismarck following their marriage. Orville died in October of 1952. Barbara began work with Osco Drug Store in 1964 and retired in 1986. Barbara enjoyed craftwork, especially decorating bears. She enjoyed working with flowers and listening to country western music.Barbara was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Tim) Tallman, Fargo; her two grandchildren, Kai and Karla Feland and three great-grandchildren, Alisia, Mariesa, and Sheldon Feland, all of Fargo; and one brother, David (Marie) Schmitcke.Barbara was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters, Ruth Schmitcke, Viola Fix, Clara Ellingson, Pearl Presler and Verna Mae Schmitcke; one brother, Edwin Schmitcke; one sister-in-law, Verna Mae Schmitcke; and her best friend and companion, Roy Neff.
