Barton H Fahlgren

Barton H. Fahlgren, 89, Bismarck, died July 25, 2015, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, August 6, at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Family will be greeting visitors from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon Thursday, August 6, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Avenue, Bismarck. Bart was born July 2, 1926, in Bismarck, ND, the son of John Elmer and Fila (Heskett) Fahlgren. He graduated from Bismarck High School, Bismarck Junior College, Texas Tech University (BA), and the University of Denver (MSW). Bart enlisted in the Army Air Corps while in high school and served in the South Pacific. He was a veteran of WWII. Bart was a member of the American Legion, and the AMVETS, a life-member of the Elks and the VFW, as well as several professional social work organizations. He held a number of positions in Human Services, Welfare, and Mental Health in North Dakota and Oregon in his over 38-year career.Bart married Zona Mickelson on September 1, 1951, in Bismarck, and they had two children.Bart is survived by his daughter, Gail; his daughter-in-law, Brenda; his grandson, Brad (Alisha), and his granddaughter, Katie; as well as two brothers, John and Winston (Betty); a brother-in-law, Carl Childers; and their families.He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Elmer and Fila; his wife, Zona; their son, Eric; his sister, Elna Childers; and his sister-in-law, Lillian Fahlgren.The family prefers memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
