Merle Heiser, 64, Bismarck, died September 30, 2015, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 6, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Craig Schweitzer officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, October 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Merle was born on September 7, 1951, on a farm five miles south of Eureka, SD, the son of Walter and Freida (Bitz) Heiser. He was raised on the farm and attended a one-room school house and graduated from Eureka High School. He went to work for a dairy corporation in Eureka until he joined the Marine Corp where is served thirteen months in Okinawa, Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he went to Mahopac, NY, where he worked for a medical factory. Merle moved to Bismarck in 1979 and went to work for Medcenter One (now Sanford Health) in 1985.
Merle enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Merle is survived by his mother, Freida Heiser, Bismarck; his brothers, Kenneth (Loralee), Bismarck, Jerome (Genine), Mahopac, NY, Rodney (Sarah), Aberdeen, SD, and Karlis (Kathy), Bismarck; and his sister, Joann Heiser, Aberdeen, SD.
