Clara Bickel

Clara Bickel, 97, Tuttle, died Oct. 2, 2015, in Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle, with Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Burial will be at the Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Clara was born December 27, 1917, at Tuttle, ND, to Christof and Paulina (Bauer) Gerr. She was raised at Tuttle and received her education at Arlington School northeast of Tuttle. On October 20, 1949, Clara married Edward Bickel, Sr. at Tuttle. They were involved together in their farm and ranch operation. Edward died on January 2, 2002 at Bismarck, ND. Clara was a member of English Lutheran Church, Marie Circle, Clear Lake Homemakers Club, and taught Sunday school. She was an avid reader and loved to quilt. One of her greatest joys was quilting for Lutheran World Relief. She also enjoyed baking and gardening. In August of 2011, Clara moved to Golden Manor in Steele. While there she continued her quilting. Most dear to Clara were her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. Clara is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia (Robert) Gutmann of Bismarck, and Janis (Marlon) Leischner of Sauk Centre, MN; her three sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward (Denise) Bickel, Norman Bickel and James Bickel, all of Tuttle; her nine grandchildren, Cassandra (Greg) Klein, Grant Bickel, Dustin (Lisa) Jackson, Zac (Jill) Jackson, Chelsie Bickel, Mackenzie Bickel, Aaron (Nora) Gutmann, Kevin Gutmann, and Landon (Teresa) Leischner; three great grandchildren, Hadley Jackson, Everett Jackson, and Lane Leischner; and several nieces and nephews.
