Carl Selmer Erdahl, 67, passed away November 7, 2015. He went to be with God and God the Son, Jesus Christ, whom Carl accepted in 1973.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Prairie Family Church, 500 Remington Dr. Bismarck.
Private interment will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Carl was born February 17, 1948, in Rapid City, SD, to Philip and Margery (McFarland) Erdahl. He was raised in Mobridge, SD, and spent most of his life in Rapid City, SD, before moving to Bismarck in 2001.
Carl served his country in the National Guard (SD and CO) and with the Pennington County (SD) Sheriff’s Department. During his years in the National Guard, Carl worked as a photographer, military police sergeant, and supply sergeant. With the sheriff’s department, Carl worked in corrections as a deputy sheriff. Later in his life, Carl ran a small business selling flags, law enforcement and security equipment, etc.
Carl was married to Arlene Lund on October 15, 1982. They have two daughters, Ruth and Rose. Carl attended Open Bible Christian Center in Rapid City, and Prairie Family Church in Bismarck, and worked security at both churches. Carl was an avid ham radio operator (N0PSX), fisher, and Diet Coke drinker.
Carl is survived by Arlene, his wife of 33 years; his daughters, Ruth and Rose; his sister, Megan McFarland, Keystone, SD, and her children, Emily (Patrick) Fischer, and Matthew, Sarah, and Jameson Pfeifle; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Lund, Selfridge, ND; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, Sam and Rose Erdahl, and Wilferd and Helen McFarland.
