Agnes Maude Will, 96, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2015. Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 16, at Evangel Assembly of God Church, 3225 N 14th St., Bismarck, with Pastor Arland Dwelle officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday, November 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Avenue, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Agnes was born August 13, 1919, at Brantford, ND, the daughter of the Rev. Lester and Susie (Hubin) Miller. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID, in 1939 and from Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, ND, in 1942. After teaching nursing for three years at Trinity, she was director of the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Nampa, ID, for four years. In 1952, Agnes received a master’s in nursing degree (MSN) from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, and returned to North Dakota. She was an instructor at Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing for 20 years and served as director for three years. Agnes was an appointed member of the State Board of Nursing from 1959-1969, and in 1978, became executive director. She retired in 1984.
Agnes married Edwin Will in 1954 in Bismarck. Together they built a life that revolved around God and family. Agnes was a member of Evangel and the Women’s Ministries Group since 1954. In 1981, Agnes was instrumental in organizing Capital Quilters. Ever the teacher, Agnes often took new quilters under her wing, including her dear friend, Jean Wolf. Over the years, Agnes’ quilts won several awards. In later years, she spent many hours doing embroidery. Family and friends will think of Agnes often when they look at the beautiful quilted and embroidered items displayed in their homes. In 2009, Agnes moved in to Edgewood Vista where she enjoyed the people and the activities. For the last year, she resided at St. Vincent’s Continuing Care Center.
Agnes is survived by one son, Dan (Donna) Will, Zumbrota, MN; four daughters, Diane (Curt) Boutilier, Minot, Eileen (Ted) Hochhalter, Marjie (Allen) Schirado, and Patty (Rick) Steinert, all of Bismarck; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Ada Miller, Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Wilma Simonsen and Evelyn Larson; one brother, Carl Miller; and one grandson, Mike Hochhalter.
