Marlys Olson, 81, Regan, died November 18, 2015.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 23, at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, with Rev. Paul Schauer officiating.
Burial will be at the Baldwin Cemetery.
Family will be receiving guests from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Sunday, November 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 4:00 pm. Cremation has taken place.
Marlys Joan Olson was born August 13, 1934, in Bismarck, the daughter of Lowell and Lourene (Engelmann) Christiansen. She grew up on the family farm north of Bismarck. Marlys graduated from Bismarck High School and then went on to attend Minot State where she earned her teaching diploma. She briefly taught rural schools in Burleigh County. On June 1, 1956, she married Leonard Olson in Bismarck. They lived in Bismarck, Menoken, and McKenzie until 1969 when they moved to Regan and owned and operated Olson’s Super Valu. Marlys also worked as an Avon lady, a cook at Regan School and was a bus driver for many years. She was a member of the Regan Homemaker’s Club and enjoyed baking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard, Bismarck; her sons, Paul (Carla), Bismarck, Loren (Tami), Bismarck, James (Karla), Athol, ID, and Mark (Tina) Fargo; her grandchildren, Tanya (Clay) Brosz, Lance, Kayla (Marshall) Corbin, Lacey (Ryan) Pfleger, Paul Jr. (Brooke), Aundrea (Jaco) Van Rooyen, Erica (fiancé, Cole Schill), Morgan, and Jordon Olson; her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Mckenna, Lily, Charlie, Jaxsyn, Asher, Gavyn, Aunzel, Hudson, and Beckett; her brother, Russel (Joyce) Christiansen, Bismarck; and her sisters, Donna Kelly, TX, and Patricia (Ron) Andahl, Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lyle, Clarence, Vern, and Lynn; her sister, Mary Schuler; her nephews, Scott Christiansen and Ty Andahl; and her niece, Lisa Schuler.
