Elizabeth “Betty” Friedig, 76, Bismarck, died November 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 25, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Betty was born April 30, 1939, in Napoleon, ND, the daughter of Wendlin J. and Marcella (Feist) Hilzendeger. She attended schools in Logan County and worked for Capital Laundry/American Linen for 35 years until her retirement in 1997, due to health reasons.
Betty married Raymond “Ray” Friedig on May 1, 1965, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck. She enjoyed dancing (as long as she was able), playing pinochle, collecting dolls, playing bingo with her hairdresser and friends, and was always the life of the party. She belonged to the Eagles Auxiliary and was a member of Cathedral Parish.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ray, Bismarck; her siblings, Agatha (Tom) Jundt, Bismarck, Ray (Betty) Hilzendeger, Napoleon, Joe (Florence) Hilzendeger, Mandan, Leo (Carol) Hilzendeger, Yakima, WA, Larry (Connie) Hilzendeger, Billings, MT, Tony (Mary) Hilzendeger, Bismarck, Willie (Angie) Hilzendeger, Bismarck, Jim (Marylou) Hilzendeger, Napoleon, Leona (Duane) Friedig, Bismarck, and Eddie (Shirley) Hilzendeger, Center, ND; her 33 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; and her sister, Regina.
