Frances Babcock, 92, Bismarck, died December 7, 2015, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 413 Avenue D East, Bismarck, with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Frances Arlene was born July 25, 1923, in Wolsey, SD, the daughter of Martin and Adala (Gogolin) Licht. She was raised and educated in the Wolsey area and graduated from Virgil, SD, high school. She attended business school at Huron, SD, and worked for Standard Oil for a short time. Frances married Clarence Babcock in 1944 in Virgil, SD. Following the couple’s marriage, Clarence was drafted into WWII and Frances moved with him down to Texas as he served state side. Frances and Clarence moved to Bismarck in 1946 and the couple was blessed with four children, Nicholas, Penelope, Robert and Mary. Frances was a longtime active member at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck.
Frances was a stay-at-home mother, enjoyed cooking for her family and taking care of her home. Her greatest love was for her family and friends.
Frances is survived by her children, Nick (Linda) Babcock, Penny Kunz, and Robert Babcock; five grandchildren, Melanie (Jeff) Wilson, Michael Babcock, Timothy (Krisi) Kunz, Christopher (Sandy) Herrmann, Zachary Herrmann (Tara Himmelspach); and four great-grandchildren, Parker Wilson, Jackson Wilson, Kyla Hickel, and Brandon Kunz; son-in-law, Jerry Herrmann (Debbie LaBrenz and son Josh (Brittany)); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Daryl Kunz; one sister, Alice Scheibe; and two brothers, Don and Jim Licht.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
