Lloyd Quale, 94, Wing, died December 21, 2015, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 28, at Grace Lutheran Church, Driscoll, with Rev. Paul Schauer officiating.
Burial will be held at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Driscoll.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday, December 27, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lloyd was born on June 18, 1921, in Driscoll, ND, the son of Olaf and Bertha Quale. After graduating from Driscoll High School he went to work at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, and from there to Alaska with the US Engineers. Lloyd entered the US Army in March of 1943 and served in the European Theatre. In December of 1945, after his discharge from the military, he moved home to live on the farm with his mother; his father having passed away while he was in the service, spending the rest of his life farming and ranching.
Lloyd was very active in sports, playing and managing baseball and basketball teams for many years. He was a charter member of the Driscoll Men’s Club and the Tuttle Legion.
In 1959 he married MaryAnn Stein Nelson, who had three children, Bruce, Cheryl, and Terrill, and their son Olaf was born in 1960.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, MaryAnn, Wing; his daughter, Cheryl (Clayton) Martin, Steele; his sons, Bruce (Joyce) Nelson, Driscoll, Terry (Sue) Nelson, Driscoll, and Olaf (Barbara) Quale, Wing; his sister, Betty Rohrich, Steele; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, MaryAnn; his sister, Deloris (Willard) Maas; and his brother, Russel (Leona) Quale.
