Evonne Kay Dykema, 73, of Bismarck passed away December 31, 2015 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck, after a courageous fight with ALS.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 3 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, from 5:00 pm –7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 4 at 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Pastor Craig Schweitzer officiating.
Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Evonne Ernst was born in Wolverton, MN, on October 24, 1942, the daughter of Arnold and Hilda Ernst. She graduated from Barnesville High School, Barnesville, MN, and Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND, in their business program. Evonne married Ken Dykema on September 7, 1963, and spent the early years of their marriage raising their children. Later she worked for Bob Rosen Water Conditioning Company and House of Color.
Evonne enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, playing pinochle, and cheering on the Vikings.
Evonne will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Ken; daughters, Bobbi (Kurt) Leier and Becky (Steve) Lingle, Bismarck, and son Brad (Darcie), Carbondale, CO. She will also be deeply missed by the grandchildren who adored her, Taylor and Tanner Leier, and Chelsea and Chase Lingle. Evonne is also survived by her three brothers, two sisters, and their spouses; Ken’s two brothers, three sisters, and their spouses; along with many nieces and nephews.
Evonne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; one brother-in-law; and three nephews.
Evonne’s strength, positive outlook on life, and ever-present smile were an inspiration to all who met her.
