Norman L. Franz, 82, Bismarck, ND, passed away on January 7, 2016, at Turtle Lake Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Norman was born on September 3, 1933, in Fredonia, ND, to Erie and Pauline (Ulrich) Franz. He was raised in the Oakes/Ashely area. Norman married Arvilla Zelmer on June 17, 1956, and together they had two daughters, Rose and Susan. After the death of his first wife, Norman married Anne Colness on March 25, 1994.
Norman worked for Melroe as an assembler from 1973 – 1995. His hobbies included bingo, dancing, polka fests, and collecting caps. Norman was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed sharing his joking nature with the nurses and staff at Turtle Lake Nursing Home.
Norman is survived by his daughters, Rose (Bill) Pfeifer, Mandan, and Susie (Bill) Ternes, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Bill Jr. and Jason Pfeifer, and Dustin and Cody Randall (his friend, Cassondra Wilmoth); his great-grandchildren, Cameron and Zack Pfeifer, Brady Couglin, and Axle Berger; his brother, Harlen Peas; and his special friend, Ida Giesinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arvilla (Zelmer) Franz; and his second wife, Anne (Colness) Franz.
