Betty was born February 22, 1931, in Linton, ND, the daughter of Anton and Marinia (Miller) Wolf. She attended school in Linton until moving with her parents to Bismarck in 1948, where she attended St. Mary’s Central High School, graduating in 1949. After graduation, Betty began working at Midwest Motors until 1956, when she stayed home to raise her family. After 14 years, Betty returned to work in 1970, at Cenex (Farmers Union) Bismarck, as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2007. She had a very strong work ethic and believed in providing excellent customer service to the Cenex patrons for 37 dedicated years.
Betty married the love of her life, John (Milt) Brady on November 10, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, where they continued to live and raise their children. Betty and John celebrated their loving marriage with special Saturday date nights for 61 years, until John’s passing on January 12, 2013.
Betty was a member of the Church of St. Anne’s Council of Catholic Women and she also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary, where she volunteered her time and talents for many projects and occasions over the years.
Betty was a kind and loving person with such a strong devotion to her faith, family, and friends. She loved to decorate her home for all holidays. Over the years, Betty and John would open their home to family and friends, hosting many memorable holiday parties. Betty was an excellent homemaker and loved to cook and bake and was known for her kuchen, fudge, and canned pickles, just to name a few favorites. She also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers around her home. In her early years, Betty’s favorite pastime was bowling on a ladies league night. She was also an avid sports watcher and loved the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Her children and grandchildren loved the Sunday family dinners which included a lot of cheering for different sports teams. While Betty rooted for her Minnesota Vikings, John would “quietly” be cheering on his Green Bay Packers.
Betty will be deeply missed by her loving family and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Bernie Brady, Bismarck; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathleen, Vallejo, CA, and Laurie Ann and Tim Wolf, Bismarck; three sisters, Maggie (Sebastian) Masseth, Joanne (Frank) Flink, both of Bismarck, and Clara (Eugene) Buchholtz, Missoula, MT; five grandchildren, Chrystie (Kyle) Kleinknecht, Brandon (Shanna) Brady, and Brady (Jamie), Shane and Tanner Wolf; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Caitlyn, Cambree, Sophia, Grayson, and Hadley; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Annette (Dennis) Johnson, Mary Brady, Art Buchl, and Greg and Marge Brady; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
