Peter D. Blotsky, 61, Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 7, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Church of St. Anne in Bismarck with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Peter was born in Bismarck, ND, on June 24, 1954, the son of Joseph and Susie (Tishmak) Blotsky. He attended Bismarck High School and received his GED in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Paula Jackman, on June 30, 1972, and to this union they had three children. Peter joined the Air Force in 1975. After his discharge, they moved to Mandan where he became a police officer. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer Award presented by the Mandan Jaycees in 1979. He then took another law enforcement position as chief of police in Enderlin, ND. He also was employed by Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department. They then moved to Spokane, WA, where he worked for ISC Corporation before opening his own restaurant. In 1989 he moved his family back to Bismarck. In 1991 he moved his family to Watertown, SD, where he was employed by Miller Manufacturing until his health deteriorated due to cancer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 and the Legion Riders. In 2015, Codington County Cares presented him with a plaque for being chosen as the Second Chance Prom Prince. Pete enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved making homemade sausage with his wife and kids and their spouses. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He took great pride in his yardwork. Pete enjoyed playing pool, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his children, Shannon (Cathy) Blotsky, Tina (Chris) Barker, and Joseph (Lisa) Blotsky; and his grandchildren, Harley, Kaylee, Spencer, Taylor, Dillon, Chayse, Torie, Teya, Sydney, Justice, Tristan, Jonathan, and Devlin. Peter is also survived by two sisters, Joann and Ramona and two brothers, Jack and Ted. He leaves many nieces and nephews that were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Susie; two brothers, John and Meinhard; and two brothers-in-law, Engelbert Ternes and Ed Bachmeier. Pete’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Sanford Health, and a special thanks to the nurses and CNAs on 7th floor Oncology Unit and ICU. His family feels truly blessed that Pete had the best of support and comfort from these wonderful people. You will never be forgotten.
