Daryl D. Fischer, 67, Bismarck, died March 10, 2016, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 14, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service.
Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Bismarck.
Daryl was born in Bismarck on February 13, 1949, the son of Harold and Florence (Remmich) Fischer. He grew up on the family farm between Steele and Driscoll and graduated from high school in Driscoll, where he was a basketball star. Daryl entered the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
Daryl married Marty Friesz on April 5, 1972, in Bismarck. They lived in Bismarck where Daryl worked at the ND State Penitentiary, retiring as captain in 2003. Daryl was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Marty; his daughters, Cari (John) Lucier and Heather (Jason) Kramer; his three grandchildren, Tyler Kramer, Brandon Lucier, and Ciara Lucier; one great-grandson, Anthony Jay Lucier; his mother, Florence Fischer; his two sisters, Florine (Bob) Germain and Sharon Christensen; and one brother, Larry (Paulette) Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; and his grandson, Trevor Jay Lucier.
