Calvin was born on December 21, 1949, in Mandan, ND, to Mike and Eva (Geiger) Erhardt. He was the second child born to this union.
He graduated from Center High School and became a carpenter/cabinet maker in the Bismarck area. He later went on to join the US Army National Guard, where he was a medic in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he married Lorraine Ereth in Mandan, in which they had two daughters.
Calvin joined the Labor Union, and eventually the Carpenter’s Union. He loved carpentry and woodworking and built anything that sparked his interest. He continued carpentry until 1991 when he became a millwright. He traveled all over the nation working at various power plants until he retired in 2010.
Calvin was an avid outdoorsman; he loved nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting coins, and had a knack for finding and polishing rocks. He also loved fast cars and took pride in his ’69 GTO that he purchased when he returned from war. Calvin enjoyed traveling with Dave and Colleen and visited countries such as Mexico and Costa Rica. Most mornings Calvin could be found having his breakfast at Dakota Farms.
Calvin is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Ohlhauser and Melanie Erhardt, both of Mandan; three grandchildren, Chance Erhardt, Paxton and Tenlee Ohlhauser, all of Mandan; one brother, Jeff (Mary) Erhardt of Center; three sisters, Lucretia Dirk of Zap, Kathy (Rodney) Friesz of Mandan, and Mary (Kevin) Donovan of Vernal, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Leonard; and a brother-in-law, James Dirk.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff at Hilltop Home of Comfort Nursing Home for their compassion and loving care of our stubborn dad during his stay.
