Harold L DeVore

Harold “Fritz” DeVore, 87, Bismarck, ND, died early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, in Strasburg, ND, with his daughter and son-in-law at his side. Born August 25, 1928, in Hardin, MT, he was the son of the late Ralph E. DeVore and Viola M. (Miller) DeVore. Fritz served in the Army during the Korean conflict as a training officer for tank crews. On return from the service he married Paula Cuddy Peterson on September 20, 1953. Fritz had a long career with Sweetheart Bread and Interstate Brands, rising from bread delivery salesman to regional vice president. His work took him to Billings, MT, Casper, WY, Minot and Bismarck, ND. After retirement, he settled in Scio, OR, where he and Paula spent many hours gardening. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks, and upon retirement devoted many volunteer hours to SCORE. He is survived by two of his children, Harold “Hal” (Alice) DeVore, Pearland, TX, and Debra (Ken) Erickson, Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren, Aryn De Lisi, Kaara Kleinjan, Mark Erickson, Nicole Beugli, Marrisa DeVore, and Samantha Barth; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife, Paula; his siblings, Ralph DeVore, Gordon DeVore, Verle “Bobby” DeVore, and Margaret Krug; his son, Michael DeVore and his great-granddaughter, Payslee Beugli. We wish to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff of Edgewood Vista Mandan and Strasburg Care Center for their compassion and loving care of our dad. In accordance with Fritz’s wishes there will not be any services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Edgewood Vista Mandan, or Strasburg Care Center.
