Adrian J. McDonald

Adrian Joseph “AJ” McDonald, 89, Bismarck, died peacefully at his home on April 1, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck, with Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. The family will greet visitors at 6:30 PM on Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. Adrian was born on May 2, 1926, the son of Norman and Clara McDonald. He received his high school education at St Mary's Central High School, graduating in 1944. Adrian served in the United States Army from July 1944 to June 1946. After his discharge, he attended Bismarck Junior College for two years. He met the love of his life, Kathleen Anderson, and they were married on January 29, 1948. He was a partner in ABC Electric for thirty years, and was sole owner for eleven years. AJ was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Elks, and he was an active member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, where he was an usher for many years. Adrian is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen; three sons, Michael (Cathy), Gregory (Jean), and Stephen; five grandchildren, Stacey (Dusty) Seamands, Scott (Keliann) McDonald, Andrew (Tara) McDonald, Kelly (Ryan) Mackey, and Erin (Jake) Christensen; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mavis Adams. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and an infant daughter.
