Virginia C. “Ginny” Merritt, 72, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2016, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, surrounded by her daughter and sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 9, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Dale Nabben officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday at Parkway Funeral Service.
Ginny was born on March 1, 1944, to Homer and Dee Smith in Woodworth, ND. She was raised and educated in Dickinson. After graduating high school, Ginny attended and graduated from Jack’s Beauty School. Later, as a single mom, she attended school in Bismarck earning a certificate as a pharmacy technician.
Ginny met her future husband, Joe Nosal, while working as a hair stylist in Moorhead. They were married in 1965 and had two children, Lisa and Joe “Junior”. The family moved around some, living in Minnesota, Montana, and ending up back in North Dakota. Ginny’s career life was spent working mostly at Osco Drug in both Montana and Bismarck as a pharmacy technician.
Although Ginny suffered from illness her entire adult life, she loved life and she lived it to the fullest. She especially enjoyed music, art, and the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and exploring-always up for adventure. She also loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel throughout most of the US, including Hawaii, and also traveled to Mexico and the UK. Ginny had an infectious laugh and will be missed by all who knew her.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Lisa Nosal Bader (Lowell Baesler); her grandchildren, Kristen and Michael Nosal; her brother, Harold (Connie) Smith; her sisters, Barbara (Gene) Sand, Peggy Gabbert, and Linda (Dewey) Reis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Dee Smith; and her son, Joe.
