Aurora Dressler, 95, Bismarck, formerly of Flasher, died April 18, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, April 22, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Shane Campbell and Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Thursday, April 21, at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck, and from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Aurora was born July 6, 1920, in Strasburg, ND, to Anselm and Katherine (Ternes) Volk. She grew up and attended school in Raleigh, ND. Aurora married Lambert Dressler on September 26, 1939, at St. Gertrude’s Church, Raleigh. Together they had 12 children, six boys and six girls.
Aurora worked for the postal service for 26 years. She was an avid gardener; she enjoyed working in her huge garden and canning all the fruits of her labor. She was an excellent cook; she made sure no one ever went home hungry. She loved to play cards with her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to polka and waltz music.
The greatest joy in her life was her kids and grandkids. They would bring a huge smile to her face whenever she saw them. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She touched many people’s lives both young and old.
Aurora is survived by her 12 children, Darlene (Vernon) Erickson, Elgin, Harlan (Mildred) Dressler, Rapid City, SD, Ronald (Lorraine) Dressler, Bismarck, Lois VandenBurg, Flasher, Larry (Joyce) Dressler, Tyler, TX, Charlene (Jim) Scheetz, Bismarck, Diane (Richard) Friesz, Bismarck, Carol (Mark) Sinclair, Chaska, MN, Jim (Sandy) Dressler, Las Vegas, NV, Ed (Cheryl) Dressler, Bismarck, Brenda (Dave) Meyer, Flasher, Rick (Val) Dressler, Bismarck; 35 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Lorna Imberry; one brother, Ed (Marion) Volk; and sister-in-law, Marion Volk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert; her parents; her grandson, Shane Dressler; her son-in-law, Bryan VandenBurg; three sisters, Cecelia Combs, Anna Ternes, and Rose Haegele; four brothers, Pius, Jerome, Richard, and Peter, and one infant brother.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you and will forever be grateful for the wonderful care that the St. Vincent’s Care Center staff provided for Aurora.
