Rick Olson, 63, of Bismarck, ND, passed away April 24, 2016, and is now safely at rest in the loving hands of God.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 28, at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N 6th St., Bismarck, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Rick was born October 3, 1952, in Bismarck, the son of Glenn E. and Helen M. (Heupel) Olson, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1971.
Rick and Gayle (Hullander) were married and began their life together on March 12, 1971. They repledged their love of 45 years April 4, 2016, with a renewal of vows in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, surrounded by the presence of all their children, their grandchildren, and their sisters.
A dedicated employee, Rick always worked hard and made sure every job was complete. Rick was employed as a painter for Swanson & Youngdale for several years and then began a career at Montgomery Ward, where he rose to become the Auto Department Manager. In 2000, Rick became the service writer at Trucks of Bismarck, retiring on March 31, 2016, after 16 years of service.
Rick loved hunting with his children and later with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing on the Missouri River with his wife, and working on his cars. Most of all, Rick enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, and was very proud of them. Recently, he was able to spend a beautiful time with his whole family on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation.
Rick is survived by his wife, Gayle; a son, James (Danielle) Olson; two daughters, Heidi (Greg) Brekhus and Holly (Tim) Schaeffer, all of Bismarck, as well as seven grandchildren, Tanner, Chandler and Kolby Olson; Abigayle and Belle Brekhus, and Dylan and Luke Schaeffer; his sister, Linnett (Scott) Schmidkunz of Bismarck; his brother, Russ Olson, of Washburn; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Helen Olson.
