Eugene George Knoll, 85, Bismarck, died April 28, 2016, at Sanford Health.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Church of the Ascension in Bismarck with Rev. Msgr. James Braaten officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at the ND Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eugene was born on July 12, 1930, in Burleigh County, the son of George and Philomena (Dworshak) Knoll. He spent his younger years in the Menoken area before moving with his parents to the Baldwin area in 1943. Eugene served the US Army in the Korean Conflict from 1953 – 1955.
He married Diane Olheiser in 1956. Together they ranched in the Baldwin area until retiring in 2011 and moved into Bismarck in 2014.
Eugene served as a supervisor on the Cromwell Township Board for many years. He was a proud life-time member of the Eagles and the AmVets.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Diane of Bismarck; four sons, David (Jane) of Baldwin, Duane, Darnel (Julie) and Darin (Lisa), all of Bismarck; one brother, Richard (Janet) of Santa Rosa, CA; two sisters, Cathy (Floyd) Mount of Mandan and Josephine Garceau of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister-in-law, Judy Knoll of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leo, Paul, and Raymond; and six sisters, Rosemary Ressler, Anna Klein, Paulina Shulson, Lilly Ann Schmidt, Elanor Diede, and Lorrine Strong.
