Donald Duane Dockter, 58, Bismarck, died unexpectedly May 5, 2016, in a motorcycle accident.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 11, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Avenue, Bismarck, with Rev. Bob Caranicas officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Don was born August 31, 1957, to Erwin and Marian (Selzer) Dockter in Harvey, ND. He was raised in Goodrich, ND, until 1965 when they moved to Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1976 and went on to Wahpeton State School of Science, graduating in 1978 with a Mechanical Draftsman Degree. He began working with Doosan in 1981, and was currently working as a CADD Application Engineer. He was just recently recognized for his years of service.
Don was a loving father and grandfather to his three children and four grandchildren. He was described by all as a great friend with a contagious smile, a huge heart, and an uncanny ability to fix almost anything. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding his Harley, golfing, and spending time at Brush Lake where he was a very active board member for the MBLCA. He was recently an integral part of the renovation and opening of ‘The Shore Bar and Grill’ at the lake. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and had a devoted relationship with his girlfriend Pam Whiteley. ‘Doc’ will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his three children, Brandi (Nick) Bear and their children Kane and Regan, Bismarck; Sarah (Shane) Karhoff and their children Wesley and Oscar, Burlington; Scott Dockter, Severance, CO; his brothers, Dale (Sharon) Dockter, Bismarck; Jon (Julie) Dockter, Port St. Lucie, FL; his uncle, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Marian Dockter.
In lieu of flowers, a Brush Lake memorial fund will be set up in his name at Capital Credit Union in Bismarck.
