Nola Dee (Sanger) Kendall, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on May 18th, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital. Nola resided at Edgewood Vista at the Village and enjoyed her time there a great deal.
The family chose to do a private service. A separate funeral service will be held at a later time this summer.
She was born in Dickinson, ND on November 22, 1947, on her mother’s birthday. She grew up in Hettinger and attended Hettinger Public School and worked in the family owned shoe store, “Cub’s Shoes.”
On September 19, 1964, she married Milan (Mickey) Kendall. They had two children, April and Erika.
The couple raised their family in Hettinger, later moving to Killdeer during the first oil boom.
Nola made a living at doing the things she loved. She was great at painting and wallpapering and ran her own business for a time. She also had a knack for balloon and flower arrangements and had “Nola’s Nifties” which she ran out of her home in Killdeer. She was very artistic and loved to draw and paint and was especially gifted with oil painting. She always had the prettiest flower gardens and enjoyed her yard.
Nola had a great sense of humor and made friends where ever she went. She loved spending time with her family and had many laughs and adventures with her daughters and grandchildrens which included trips to Sturgis and drag racing.
Nola is survived by two daughters, April (Greg)Bishop of Bismarck and Erika Martens of Oslo, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Carey, Alexis, Samantha and Max; six great-grandchildren: Caden, Joslyn, Paris, Abriella, Londyn and Gemma; sister, Clayette (Tookie) Sanger; nephews: Ricky and Casey Kendall; and nieces: Jaime Kendall, Lori Chavers, Maryhelen Ryckman and Beth Ann Dodds.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and husband, Mickey.
