Dwight was born in Elgin, North Dakota and spent much of the remainder of his childhood and adult life in the Bismarck/Mandan area. He attended the University of North Dakota, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1971. Professionally, Dwight combined his business acumen and his passion for working with people into a memorable career, the most rewarding of which culminated in 37 years with United Printing in Bismarck. He took great pride in client satisfaction and developing strong relationships with colleagues and customers, as well as within the professional organizations he served in, and his strong work ethic was always at the forefront.
Dwight met his wife Paula (Schumaier) Haase in May of 1974, and the two were married by the following February. Their love grew into a family as they welcomed their daughters Farrah and Laura over the course of the following few years. Dwight’s family meant everything to him, and so much of the joy in his life came from the memories they made, including countless family vacations and time spent just loving life together.
Dwight had many passions in his life. He enjoyed sailing in his younger years, and he fostered a life-long love of sports cars, including his current beloved Mustang convertible. He enjoyed time spent camping or out on the water fishing with family and friends, and he took pride in his growing gun collection as well as honing his skills on the gun range.
Dwight was an incredibly loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, with a gentle soul and an amazing heart. Everyone who was lucky enough to be a part of his life were struck by his ever-present optimism, genuine interest in others, zest for life, good humor and compassion. He was a gifted storyteller, and loved entertaining others with his tales of sailing races and hilarious anecdotes. Dwight loved to make people laugh and smile, and was well-known for both his jokes and the ever-present twinkle in his eye.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Paula (Schumaier) Haase; two daughters, Farrah (Jeff) Wiberg and Laura (Jeff) Murray; grandchildren Gabe, Alex, Liam, Eli and Ava; mother Edna (John) Ackerman; sisters Debbie (Jerome) Leno and Dee (Ferd) Madche.
