Kathleen E. LaLonde, 100, Bismarck, died May 23, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 27, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, May 26, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 6:00 pm.
Kathleen Elizabeth LaLonde was born September 22, 1915, at Mandan, ND, to Paul Reid and Mary Ellen (Welsh) Foster. She was raised and educated in Mandan and graduated from Mandan High School in 1935. She attended Lea Beauty School in St. Paul, MN, and was employed as a beautician in St. Paul and Mandan.
Kathleen married Leo LaLonde on September 16, 1940, in Los Angeles, CA, at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church. They lived in Los Angeles, St. Paul, and Culver City, CA, during World War II. Following the war they moved to Mandan and then to Bismarck in 1955. Leo died in Bismarck on November 14, 1977.
Kathleen was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, and working in her garden and with her flowers. This kind and gentle lady believed that the Golden Rule was a guide for good living. She felt it important that a family keep close contact, and dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends. She is survived by her two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Karen LaLonde, and Gary LaLonde; her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and Bruce Cederstrom, all of Bismarck; her eight grandchildren, Jodi (Steve) Gordon, John LaLonde, Michelle (Kadon) Hintz, James (fiancé Leah) LaLonde, Eric (Bonnie) Cederstrom, Brian (Deanna) Cederstrom, Kevin (Stacy) Cederstrom, and Todd Cederstrom; and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Nora, and Molly Cederstrom, Parker, Owen, and Hannah Hintz, and Tyler Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents; her sister, Evelyn House; her baby grandson, Paul LaLonde; granddaughter, Baby Cederstrom; and daughter-in-law, Tari LaLonde.
Kathleen’s family wishes to thank the St. Vincent’s Care Center staff for their care of Kathleen for the past year and a half.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
