Darlene Hagerott, 80, Bismarck, died May 27, 2016, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Darlene was born in Bismarck, ND, on November 17, 1935, to Floydd and Esther (Baker) Belk. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1954. She then worked as a secretary/typist for Ben Meier, Secretary of State of North Dakota. She married Nels Hagerott in South Dakota in February 1960. She thoroughly enjoyed square dancing, sewing, cooking, baking and painting. A spirited city girl who married a farmer, she deeply loved and cared for her children, grandchildren and extended family. Darlene is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Carla Hagerott and their children, Bethany and James, Longmont, CO, and Zane and Melanie Hagerott and their children, Savanna and Brandon, Mandan; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Thomas Ziffer, Rimrock; her brother, Bill Belk; her sister, DeLoris Beyers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nels Hagerott; her sisters, Althea Caroll, Marjorie France and Ruth Kavonius; and her brother, Alfred Belk. Cremation has taken place. A small, private memorial service will be held at a future date and the location is pending. In lieu of flowers or gifts, charitable donations can be directed to the American Lung Association.
