Adeline McConachie

September 28, 1927 — July 24, 2016

Adeline Luithle McConachie departed this life Sunday, July 24, 2016, at age 88. Services will be held at Thursday, July 28, at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Pastor Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue at the church one hour before services. "Addie" was born at the family farm near Mott, ND on September 28, 1927 to Frederick and Elizabeth (Klein) Luithle. Addie spent her early life on the family farm and attended area schools. She married Herman W. Mees on May 5, 1947. They moved from Mott to Bismarck in 1957; where they raised their seven children. Addie’s life was devoted to her family and home. She also worked at the St. Alexius Hospital 1957 – 1964; the Bismarck Hospital 1964 – 1972; and Sioux Sporting Goods 1974 - 1996. Addie married Rod McConachie on December 12, 1987. Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. They traveled extensively while visiting her children and grand children. Addie’s travels included trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Cancun, Cozumel, Canada, Texas, Washington, Florida, Connecticut and New York. She loved needle work and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed early morning walks, collecting butterfly memorabilia and spent many hours completing intricate puzzles. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Bismarck and VFW Women’s Auxiliary, delivered meals for RSVP, volunteered with the Shriners and was active at the Senior Center. Addie is survived by her children; Jim Allen (Irina), Dallas, TX, Cynthia Lewis-Hindman (Ross), Austin, TX, LaDonna Mees Richardson, Oak Harbor, WA, Dave Mees (Carmen), Mandan, Ardell Mees (Tammy), Bismarck, and Cal Mees, Dallas, TX; 15 grand children; ten step-grand children, twelve great grand children; nine step-great grand children; two brothers in-law, Leo Voll, Mandan and Edwin Schneider, Bismarck and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rod; son, Arlin Mees; grandson, Adrian Allen; parents, Frederick and Elizabeth (Klein) Luithle; her brothers, Friedrich, Edward and John Luithle; her sisters, Carolyn Bertalan, Bertha Dohn, Ida Luithle, Freida Voll, Martha Ottmar, and Elizabeth Schneider (twin sister); and Herman W. Mees. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for caring for our mother.
