Nick A. Schirado, 86, Bismarck, died August 2, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 6, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Avenue, Bismarck, with Rev. Corey Nelson officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am Monday, August 8, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation is from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, August 5, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Nick was born March 25, 1930, the son of John and Theresa (Filibeck) Schirado. He was raised and educated in rural Glen Ullin and received a degree in transportation from the University of Birmingham. Nick served in the military from September 1950 to November 1952. He was in sales in the wholesale grocery business and entered the transportation field in 1960. Nick married Vivian Rosemary Sabot on September 20, 1954. The couple raised four children, Kathleen, Cindy, Julie, and Douglas. Nick is survived by his wife, Vivian, Bismarck; his children, Kathleen Kay Swenson, Bismarck, Cindy (Andy) Koenig, Cheyenne, WY, Julie (Jeff) Kuss, Mandan, and Douglas Schirado (friend, Dena Wise), Bismarck; his five grandchildren, Melissa (Walter Jr.) McDaniel-Brooks, Chad (Susan) Swenson, Brandon (Kim) Swenson, Devin and Benjamin Schirado; his great-grandson, Walter McDaniel-Brooks Jr., who always put a smile on Nick’s face; and his sister, Eleanor Wehri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and many siblings and their spouses.
