Marilyn “Mary” (Holmes) Fredrickson, 85, Steele, died September 4, 2016.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 9, at the Steele Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Bob Schoepp officiating.
Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, September 8, at the Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marilyn “Mary” was born June 24, 1931, in Montpelier, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Ila (Redmann) Holmes. She attended school in Montpelier, Business College in Jamestown for one year, and worked at Farmer’s Union State Insurance. Mary married Kent Fredrickson on February 17, 1951.
Mary worked for the Kidder County Library/Bookmobile for 18 years, which was a perfect job for her, as she loved reading. She passed this love of reading down to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, and crossword puzzles. Kent and Mary bought a cabin at Lake Isabel where she enjoyed entertaining her family, taking care of her flowers, and early morning coffee on her patio overlooking the lake. Mary was very involved with her church family and treasured the time spent with them and with her book club.
Mary is survived by her seven children, Kent III (Jean), Minot, Denise (Gary) Myhre, Rugby, Amber Fredrickson (Wendy Banister), Perry, KS, Mick (Shannon), Savage, MN, Bob (Chris), Bismarck, Sheree (Steve) Bertsch, Lincoln, and Scott, Holten, KS; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; good friend, Marlene Heim; and her church and book club friends..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent; and her parents.
