Stanley Haas, 92, Bismarck, died September 11, 2016, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 16, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Craig A. Schweitzer officiating.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
There will be no visitation.
Stanley Harvey Haas was born October 29, 1923, in Upham, ND, the son of Theodore and Katherine (Gruze) Haas. Stan graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the North Dakota Highway Department for 40 years. In his career with the highway department he was involved in many significant projects which included the I-94 interstate and the Bismarck Expressway Bridge across the Missouri River.
Stan married Gloria Gausvik in 1946. Stan was an active member of the Elks Club in Bismarck, and ultimately served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees. Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf with his friends at Riverwood Golf Course. He was a licensed ham radio operator, call sign WBOWFE. After retirement from the ND Highway Department, Stan and Gloria traveled the country in their motor home visiting places they haven’t seen before. They also spent the winter seasons in Capitola, CA, and Georgetown, TX, before returning to Bismarck fulltime.
Stan is survived by his wife, Gloria, Bismarck; his sons, Tim (wife Joey) Haas, Houston, TX, and Jerry (wife Marilyn) Haas, Colleyville, TX; four grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, TX, Chris, Toby, and Terri, Houston, TX; five great-grandchildren, Josh, Jamie, MaKenzie, Lindy, Hayden, all of Houston, TX.
