Wilhelm “Bill” A. Sandberg, 95, Bismarck, passed away on September 28, 2016, at Sanford Health Living Center Sunset Drive, Mandan.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 3, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Dale Nabben officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday, October 2, at Parkway Funeral Service.
Burial will be at 2:00 pm Monday, October 3, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Bill was born on July 7, 1921, in Tioga, ND, the son of Oscar and Mathilda (Erickson) Sandberg. He attended school in Tioga and graduated from Tioga High School in 1941. Following graduation, he entered the US Army in 1942 and served during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Bill married Norma Dullum on June 1, 1946, in Sydney, MT. Bill worked in sales at MDU and later as an electrician for IBEW Local 714 in Bismarck. Bill loved to dance to “old time” music, play golf, and he enjoyed doing yard work and spending time with his faithful dogs. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bismarck VFW, Eagles Club, American Legion, and Elks Lodge.
Bill is survived by his children, Robert (Debbie) Sandberg, Stratham, NH, Daniel Sandberg, Mount Holley, NC, Charlene (Vern) Siepel, Plymouth, IL, and Renae (Don) Charvat, Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his daughter, Paulette Brown; and his brother and sisters.
Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
