John Sebastian Dosch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, brother, friend to many, passed away October 7, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 11, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Monday, October 10, at St. Vincent Care Center, 1021 N 26th St., Bismarck, and from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, October 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where vigil/KC rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. John, and his twin Jacob, were born in Emmons County, ND, on May 24, 1931, to Sebastian and Veronica (Schumacher) Dosch. He grew up on the family farm near Strasburg, ND, and graduated from Saint Benedict’s (Emmons County) High School in 1950. He attended North Dakota Agriculture College (NDSU). John married Cecilia Rudnick on September 20, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck. The couple had ten children. John had a number of jobs over the years including farming, Montgomery Wards, Sears, JC Penney, the ND Department of Transportation, and Knights of Columbus Insurance. In 1979, John and Cecilia moved to Carrington, ND, where they operated Dosch’s V & S Variety Store. In his later years, John was blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy his passion of antiques and auctions, owning and operating, Capital City Antiques. He was very proud and passionate about his commitment to the Knights of Columbus. John joined the Knights of Columbus in 1955 (60 years ago) and became a 4th Degree Knight in 1974 (42 years ago). John was happiest doing the background work. Over the years he served as Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, District Deputy, and Comptroller. He attended hundreds of funerals and made thousands of phone calls informing brother Knights of rosaries for funerals. John was particularly proud of the fact that he proposed 153 new members and attended the state convention 50 years in a row. When his boys were young, John also participated as a Cub Scout leader. John was a man of deep faith with an immense love for his family, church, and community. Until his health failed, he never missed Sunday mass and attended daily mass with great frequency. John’s family wishes to thank the staff of Northland Pace, CHI St. Alexius Hospital, and St. Vincent Care Center for their care and compassion. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cecilia and their children, Mary Ann (Greg) Morford, Kathy (Steve) Rau, Andy Dosch (special friend, Jen Hoerner), Jim (Becky) Dosch, Diane (Kennen) Huck, Steve (Bernadette) Dosch, all of Bismarck, ND, Tom (Pat) Dosch, St. Cloud, MN, and Paul (Mary) Dosch, West Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Shawn, Karl, Angela, Brian, Bethany, Tom, Ryan, Evan, John, Darla, Christopher, Benjamin, Andrew, Emily, Nicholas, Jacob, Austin, Tessa, Rachel, Matthew, Landon, Dylan, Dawson, Drew, Pacey, Tabitha, Brett, and Mariah; his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Charles, Nolan, Allison and Samantha; his brothers and sisters, Helen, Ed, Rose, Tony and Sally.
