Thomas Malkmus

July 24, 1935 — October 12, 2016

Thomas Malkmus, 81, Bismarck, died October 12, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 16, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1143 N 26th St., Bismarck, with Rev. Nadine Lehr officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Tom was born July 24, 1935, in Dayton, OH, the son of Herbert and Jewel (Minx) Malkmus. In 1947 the family moved to Fargo, where he graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1954. On July 19, 1958, he married Minnie Boland in Fargo. Tom worked for American Crystal Sugar Co., for 32 years until retiring in 1997. They moved to Bismarck in 1998 to be closer to family. Tom was a very good handyman, enjoyed woodworking and shared his talents with many. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. Tom is survived by his wife, Minnie, Bismarck; his daughter, Renee (Kevin) Connell, Bismarck; his son, John (Paula) Malkmus, Bismarck; six grandsons, Matt (Sally) Connell, Justin (Jacie) Connell, Jared (Trina) Connell, Ryan Malkmus, Tommy Malkmus, Brett Malkmus; his great-grandchildren, Jakoby, Sophie, McKenna and Hannah; two sisters, Jean Anne Brown, Jamestown, and Miriam Tollefson, West Fargo; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Michael Malkmus; and his parents.
