Edward J. Feist, 89, Bismarck, formerly of McKenzie, died November 4, 2016, after a 3 ½ year battle of cancer at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, November 8, at St. Hildegard’s Catholic Church, 17200 County Rd 10, Menoken, with Rev. Frank Schuester officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, November 7, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be held at the Menoken Cemetery.
Ed was born June 24, 1927, in Bismarck, ND, the son of John and Magdalena (Schlosser) Feist. He was raised on the farm near Strasburg and attended rural school through the eighth grade. After many hard years of working on the farm, he married the love of his life, Margaret Houn, on October 20, 1952. They farmed four years west of Strasburg until moving to the farm east of McKenzie, ND, where they lived and raised their family for 54 years. In 2009, the couple moved to Bismarck, where they resided at the time of Ed’s death.
Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret, Bismarck; their five children, Ken, Sioux Falls, SD, Leonard (Denise), Newcastle, WY, Sheila (Frank) Werlinger, Zeeland, ND, Donald (Deb), Moffit, and Janet (Bruce) Fuhrmann, Roscoe, SD; 11 grandchildren, Shawna, David, Christopher, Amanda, Steve, Rachel, Jeremy, Heather, Andrew, Bridget, and Nicholas, and their three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Florence Meier and Geneva Vetter; and one brother, Clarence Feist.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Albert Feist; and two brothers-in-law, Syl Meier and Joe T. Vetter.
