Stephen J Lipp, 51, Bismarck died Saturday, Nov 12, 2016, in a one person motor vehicle accident on the way to his farm near Tuttle, North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Burial will be at Tuttle Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service and a celebration of Steve’s life will begin at 7:00 pm.
Steve was born September 15, 1965, in Mandan to Tom and Kathy Lipp. He was raised in Center, ND, where he was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Steve graduated from Center High School in 1984, where he caused non-stop mischief and mayhem. He then went to work for many years at Lipp Drywall with his special uncle and mentor, Ted Lipp. Steve or Rosebud, as he was known as a member of the pit crew, worked for the world famous stuntman, his uncle Bill Matthews, of Iceman Promotions. He also ran his own contracting business, Peachy Contracting. He finally found his dream job, beginning as an apprentice under Rick Kiemele, as a Goldsmith at Westley's Jewelry, where he’s worked the past 17 years.
He married Helen Sackman on June 11, 1999, and became Papa to her children, Mitchell and Michelle. On August 5, 2014, PaPa became Grandpapa to his pride and Joy, Bo.
Steve was an avid collector of many things from Native American artifacts to coins to guns to records and to pocket watches and clocks. He loved to search out treasures and prospect for gold, much of which he used to fabricate his own jewelry. Steve loved to repair old clocks and watches, masterfully restoring treasures for family and friends. He also loved woodworking and carpentry and used his skills to restore their family homestead in Tuttle, where he and Helen were planning to retire.
Steve is survived by his wife, Helen Lipp; son, Mitchell Sackman, Bismarck; daughter, Michelle Sackman (Josh Clouse), Foxholm , ND ; grandson, Bo Clouse; his parents, Ma and Pa, Mandan; his bro, Paul Lipp (Lori), Everett, WA; his sisters, Christy Kirk (Dale Anderson), Mandan (I love you, sis!), and Trina Daniel (Patrick), Mandan (I love you, sis!); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his Bayer family and his whole community of friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steven and Eva Lipp; George and Francis Hagel; father-in-law, Lyle Bayer.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
