Terry Lee Rowland, 67, Bismarck, died November 24, 2016, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place, and services will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at Tuggle Cemetery, Williamsburg, KY. Terry was born January 4, 1949, in Corbin, KY, the son of Dewey A. and Dorothy E. Rowland. He graduated from Xenia, OH, Senior High School in 1967, Sinclair Community College, Dayton, OH, and Wright State University, Fairborn, OH, in 1975, with a degree in geology. He was employed as a geologist from 1979-2012 with North American Coal Corporation, Coteau Properties, Falkirk Mine, and Indian Head Mine. Terry served in the US Army from 1969 – 1971, and later in the Army Reserves. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing softball for St. Alexius Sports Medicine and especially enjoyed winning the McQuade Softall Tournament in 1990 and the State Championship in 1991. He also played intercity basketball and baseball for NACCO. He enjoyed cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats, Bismarck Bobcats, and other local teams. Terry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen; his daughter, Aubree M. (Joshua) Martinson, and their children, Ethan and Eleanor; his daughter, Kerry E. Rowland; his brother, Stephen (Eileen); his stepmother, Lillian Rowland; step-brother, Tim (Deb) Wells; step-sister, Beth Bostick (Erick Stoffer); brother-in-law, Robert (Laura) Macek; brother-in-law, Donald (Julia) Macek; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and his two boon companions, Tank and Diesel. He was preceded in death by his mother and his father; his brother, David; and his sister-in-law, Lynette. Memorials may be given to Central Dakota Humane Society, or a local veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
