Sheri was born August 27, 1960, to Kenneth and Lorraine (Bradley) Nelson in Minot, ND. She grew up on the family farm in Douglas and attended North Shore High School in Makoti. While in high school she was active in band and basketball and graduated in 1978. After high school, Sheri moved to Bismarck and received a degree from Bismarck Junior College. She then began working for Workforce Safety where she remained for over 35 years until her retirement in 2015.
Sheri married Dean Weigel on November 3, 1979, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, ND. They were blessed with three children: Pamela, Thomas, and Kimberly. Sheri received great satisfaction following her children in their numerous activities. Summers were enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends at their Deepwater Bay lake cabin. During their younger years, Dean and Sheri took trips around the region to snowmobile with friends. She also found joy in listening to music, reading, watching movies, baking, shopping, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Above all, Sheri’s favorite times were when the entire family could gather and spend time together. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Dean Weigel; her mother, Lorraine Nelson; her children, Pamela (Matt) Thorton, Thomas (Leslie) Weigel, and Kimberly (Curtis) Weigel; her granddaughters, Kinley and Eve Thorton; her brothers, Tim (Annette) Nelson and Greg (Jackie) Nelson; her mother-in-law, Lila Weigel; and several nieces and nephews.
Sheri was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Nelson.
