Albert G. Eckroth, 88, Bismarck, died November 24, 2016, at Sanford Health Continuing Care Center off Sunset, Mandan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, December 1, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with Rev. Corey Nelson officiating.
Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm.
Albert was born on August 26, 1928, to John V. and Angeline (Leingang) Eckroth at Odense, ND. As a small boy he moved with his family to a farm near Fort Rice/Huff area. Albert married Bernice Simon on August 2, 1952, in Mandan. He entered the US Army on September 24, 1952, and was discharged in July 1954. He served in the Korean War. Following discharge from the Army, Albert worked for Eddy’s Bakery and then for the Job Corps and United Tribes Technical College as a plumber for 34 years. Bernice died May 16, 1983. Albert married Alice Frenzel on July 17, 1986.
Albert is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alice, Bismarck; two sons, Gordon (Ione), Bismarck, and Cordell (Nancy), Hazen; one daughter, Julie (Kent) Raney, Bismarck; two stepdaughters, SanDee (Mike) Strahan, MI, and Sheila (Brad) Steiner, Mott; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild due in February; three sisters, Viola (Bob) Klesalek, MT, Rosella Kuhn, and Lorraine (Gene) Hatzenbeler, both of Mandan; two brothers, Donald (Delanis) and Raymond (Priscilla), all of Mandan; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Eckroth of Mandan.
Albert was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice; one son, Douglas; his parents; five brothers, Alex, Adam, John, Jake, and Vincent; three sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Hildegard Miller, Jenny Haller; and two infant siblings.
Albert’s family would like to thank the care givers at Sanford Health Continuing Care Center for their wonderful care for the past four years.
