Rose Gabriel, 96, Bismarck died peacefully on Dec. 4, 2016, at Touchmark on West Century.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Dec. 10, 2016, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary will begin at 7 p.m.
The youngest of 15 children, Rose was born Sept. 30, 1920, at Zeeland, ND to Paul and Catherine (Weigel) Welder. She was raised and educated in Zeeland. Rose Married John Gabriel on November 4, 1941, at Zeeland and they farmed near Hague, ND until moving to Bismarck in 1965. Just shy of 58 wonderful years together John died in Bismarck on Oct. 14, 1999.
In Bismarck, Rose worked cleaning houses for several doctors. She was known for her attention to detail while cleaning and was very proud of the quality of her work.
Rose played piano and organ by ear, and she was very good at it. She played for the American-German Singers for 12 years, and she played at masses in the chapel at Marillac Manor where she lived for 18 years. She enjoyed music and dancing, crocheting, reading prayer books and visiting with friends.
Rose is survived by many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces, including a special niece Lillian Weisbeck, a special great-niece Dana (Jim) Rudnick, and a special nephew Vernon (Joyce) Welder, all of Bismarck.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and her brothers and sisters.
