Delores "Dee" J. Broxmeyer

Delores “Dee” Josephine (Allers) Broxmeyer, 85, Bismarck, passed away December 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Delores was born five miles east of Max, ND, on July 14, 1931. She grew up on the farm and moved to Garrison, ND. She graduated from Garrison High School in 1949 and then graduated from nurse’s training in 1952. Three months after training, she contracted polio. With the help of MarJ and Harold (Dee) Edwards and Garrison hospital, she learned how to walk again and recovered from her illness. She worked at Garrison Hospital and St. Alexius hospital as a registered nurse for 40 years. She married Walter Broxmeyer on July 20, 1963. They had three children Amy (Broxmeyer) Neigum, Bruce Broxmeyer, and David Broxmeyer. Delores enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and being with family. She loved her Catholic faith and children’s activities. For twelve years, she went to Arizona as a snowbird. Delores suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for 46 years. She was a gentle, quiet person who was a good listener which made her an exceptional nurse. Her gardening skills were locally recognized by the Bismarck Tribune with a full-page article. Her dill pickles were prized and sought after. Delores will be passionately missed by her husband of 53 years, Walter Broxmeyer of Bismarck; her daughter, Amy Neigum (Anthony), Wausau, WI; her son, Bruce (Michelle) Broxmeyer, Prescott Valley, AZ; her son, David Broxmeyer, St. Cloud, MN; and her grandchildren, Cody Broxmeyer, Makenzie Broxmeyer, Victoria Neigum, and Evan Neigum. She is also survived by Albert and Mary Berger Bismarck ND, and Teresa Wagner, Mesa, AZ. Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Agnes Allers and her brother, Francis Allers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the God’s Child Project, PO Box 1843, Bismarck, ND 58502-1843.
