Anton “Tony” Schumacher, 85, Bismarck, died December 11, 2016, of natural causes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 14, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
Tony was born January 22, 1931, in Zeeland, ND, to Sebastian and Anna (Mitzel) Schumacher. At age seven Tony and his family moved to a farm in Peter’s Siding, North Dakota, and he attended school in Starkey Township.
Tony married Helen Becker on October 4, 1954, and they farmed south of Napoleon, North Dakota for several years before moving to Bismarck in 1964. Tony worked in various positions as a salesman for several years. He developed many strong relationships across the state during his years of owning a beauty and barber supply business in Bismarck. Tony enjoyed dancing and reminiscing about days on the farm. He truly enjoyed being with family members, especially his grandchildren. Tony was a great host and loved to welcome people into his home. He took pride in treating his guests well and feeding them good food. Tony also enjoyed being a member of the Elks and Eagles for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 62 years. Tony is also survived by his three sons, Bob of Boise, Idaho; Glenn and Linda of Boise, Idaho; and Dan and Autumn of Meridian, Idaho; and one daughter, Alicia and Jeff Meland of Northfield, Minnesota. Tony is also survived by 10 grandchildren (Anna and Tony Swart, and Austin Schumacher; Sam and Gregory Schumacher; Forrest, Kailah, Cole, and Grayce Schumacher; and Jackson and Thomas Meland) and one great grandchild, Gwen Swart. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Bender and brother and sister-in-law, Sebastian and Helen Schumacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John and Pius Schumacher.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of St. Anne in Bismarck where they were members for 30 years.
