She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Anna was born on December 18, 1925 in Triesen, Austria, to Franz and Johanna Werth. She was one of five children. She met her husband, Irven, in Linz, Austria during WWII and later left her beloved country to move to Bismarck, ND, where they raised six children.
She was an active member of Bismarck Baptist Church for over 60 years. She used her cooking skills for many church events and sang in the choir. She made many wonderful friends there. Anna had a great and abiding love for the Lord and instilled that faith in her children.
An excellent cook and baker, her family and friends were always treated to wonderful German/Austrian cuisine -especially her kuchen! Her baking of Christmas cookies and goodies was a regular tradition of which her children have very fond memories. She loved varied crafts and sewed most of her family’s clothes when they were young. She was the kindest, most caring mother anyone could ever hope for and she was greatly loved.
She retired from the Bismarck School system where she worked as the head of the school lunch program at Wachter Junior High. We hear she was popular with some of the teachers and students as she would make special German dishes for them.
Anna was an avid walker and met many friends on her daily treks. She also had a love of board games and was very competitive.
Anna is survived by her children, Brigitte (Jerry) Baker, Lawrenceville, GA; Laverne Vollmer, Mandan; Jane Johnson, Highlands Ranch, CO; Sandra Vollmer, Colorado Springs, CO; Angela (Jonathan) Pautz; Spring Lake Park, MN. She has four surviving grandchildren, Jamie (Kristine) Vollmer; Brittany Vollmer; Guy Buchholtz; and Jeremy (Kim) Baker, and a special family friend, June Wehmhoefer. She is also survived by one brother, Ervin, in Austria.
Anna was preceded in death but welcomed into heaven by her husband, Irven; son, James Vollmer; her daughter-in-law, Julie; and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Caleb, and Kelly Ann.
Per her late husband’s request, an edelweiss flower has been placed in her hands over her heart so she knows she is home again.
