Lawrence Reiswig, 98, Bismarck, died December 16, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 20, at the United Methodist Church in McClusky, ND.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, December 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be held in the spring at the McClusky City Cemetery.
Lawrence was born September 24, 1918, in Parshall, ND, the son of Benjamin and Minnie (Triebwasser) Reiswig. He grew up and attended school in the Lincoln Valley area. Lawrence was invited to join the service in 1941. He served in England and Ireland with the 10th Station Army Hospital. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he returned home to North Dakota, where he started his own livestock and coal hauling business.
On July 24, 1949, he married Violet Schaeffer in McClusky. The couple spent most of their lives farming. They moved to Bismarck in 1987, and Lawrence retired from farming in 1991. Lawrence was known far and wide for his famous snow-pushers. He designed, built, and sold his snow-pushers right out of his garage!
Lawrence was a member of the McClusky United Methodist Church, James Roberts Legion Post 124, and bowled for many years.
Lawrence is survived by his children, Vickie (Archie) Reinhart, Turtle Lake, and David (Kathy) Reiswig, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Lisa Overlee (Mark Vergal) Breckenridge, MN, Melanie (Ron) Hanson, Bismarck, Angelique Conklin, Mandan, Denise (Lonnie) O’Toole, Morris, IL, Damien (Torie) Reinhart, Bismarck , Janella Reiswig, St. Paul, MN, Sarah Sedlacek, O’Fallon, MO, Chance Sedlacek, Bismarck; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norris, Bismarck, and Sam, McClusky.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; daughter, Sandra; grandson, Chad Reinhart; brothers, Clarence, Melvin, Elroy, and Ted; and his sisters, Altrude, Bertha, Delores, and Esther.
