Claudia Russell

Claudia Rae Russell, 67, Bismarck, died on December 20, 2016, from cancer at Sanford Health in Bismarck. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 1:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Bryan Hochhalter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in the spring at the ND Veterans Cemetery. Claudia was born on August 29, 1949, in Minot, ND, to Claude and Dorathy (Scofield) Vannett. She was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Minot where she attended Minot schools. On April 4, 1986, Claudia married Rick Russell at Minot. The couple moved to Bismarck after the wedding. In June 1989, the couple moved to Rugby where they resided for 23 years. They moved back to Bismarck in November 2012. Claudia was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and adoptive grandmother to many of her grandsons’ friends. Claudia is survived by her husband, Rick of Bismarck; her daughter, Sharon Dotson of Bismarck; her grandchildren, Derek and Dylan Dotson of Bismarck, Preston McGath of Minot, and Dallas Johnson of Grand Rapids, MN; her sister and brothers, Sharon and Ed Walter of Minot, Larry and Barb (Bohl) Vannett of Minot, Ron and Pam (Gladback) Vannett of Minot, and Maynard and Mary (Anderson) Vannett of Hastings, MN; and sixteen nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Vannett; her mother, Dorathy Vannett Norberg; her step-father, Dale Norberg; and her niece, Alexis Walter. Claudia’s family would like to thank Sanford Health, Bismarck Cancer Center, Healthways, Pastor Bryan Hochhalter, Pastor Jeff Russell, and all of her family and friends for their support during this time.
